NZ120 De Class Arrives, Standard Railcar gets a green stripe.

The De was designed and ordered last, before the Di in fact. But due to the Di being rejected 3 times does explain things somewhat. The Di will be in my little hands before long!

Once again I used the tooth-brush & paste under running water to remove all the waxy oil residue.

After priming in Tamiya Fine Primer I gave it a couple of coats Red to get things started.

The De is available to buy here

Arriving today is the NZ120 Standard railcar.
As soon as I recieved the box from shapeways, I quickly gave the model a bath in soapy water & scrubbed the model with toothpaste and toothbrush, removing the oily stuff. And running under a tap of cold water and continuing to scrubb.

Coated in Tamiya Fine Primer, painted Silver so far.

The white railcar in the drawing should be Silver

A green stripe to go and then glazing to be installed inside.

Standard & Dl class

Work over the weekend sees a model in progress, the standard railcar.

The NZR RM class Standard railcars were a class of railcar operated by the New Zealand Railways Department in the North Island of New Zealand. Officially classified as RM like all other railcar classes in New Zealand, they acquired the designation of 'Standard' to differentiate them from others. They were introduced in 1938.

Also on the target list this weekend, the DL side-frames for my nz120 prototype. Fitted to the bogies and dusted off a bit.

Also,
I've been doing more video rendering using 3ds max using the nz120 models. A result below.

Heavy track in place, my poor back needs a brace!  We had Brian from work visit and lend a hand. The first rail we managed to drag down wit...
