Running trains

Over the last few months I've been lucky enough to run a few of the 1:24 prints on a wonderful outdoor railway built by Michael Hilliar in Manurewa.
For most of the stuff I've built its never had the opportunity to fully be run in, and of course a few tweaks were required to enable the larger loco's to run around some tight bends.

1:24 DBR Class

3D Printed 1:24 DBR Class.
The entire body less the bogies & fuel tank, took exactly 1kg of material at a cost of $40 via sandbrooks in auckland, including a time cost of roughly 5 days.

1:24 DBR Class, "sectionalized". If anyone is selling g gauge SD35, SD24, SD7/9's on ebay beware, its going to be chopped up on arrival, huge festival & burning ceremony. bands n everything.

Pretty happy with results thus far, more sanding in places will give it a nice smooth look. Printing of detail parts, cab interior, fuel tank & bogies continue.
After Painting & adding printed details such as handrails & steps., 2mm thick. Longhood top handrails still to print.
Also visible behind the Dbr is a (Lewis Holden) Designed 1:24 scale GSX 20Ft side opening container.

Da control stand on left, dbr on right, many considerations, big handles that might survive printing.

Da control stand, yet to print the Da... I blame the gin.

New drivers meet with senior management, their arms & expression seemingly in a state of disbelief upon learning their fate.

A more fitting control stand for the Dbr, drivers remain in pose of utter disbelief.
Everything in place, and a crew that looks like their being paid.

NZ120 DBR Arrives

Just a quick post to show some pictures of the NZ120 DBR Printed by Shapeways in Frosted Ultra Detail.
When I took the pictures I had already washed, scrubbed the model & blown out with the air compressor a few times before spraying a coat of Tamiya Fine Primer.
Recommended Chassis type; N scale Atlas (SD35, SD24) Kato (SD7/9), same as the DC class

Sitting on chassis

Sitting on chassis, nz120 nzr style coupler

Sitting on chassis, nz120 nzr style coupler. Sideframes will be filed down & brass sideframe needs some filing down..
Not enough primer, try again... Lovely rear tho...

Will update this post as I paint her up.. if I can decide what scheme that is...

After painting her up, shes almost presentable, still need to apply handrails, rear coupler, air hoses & window glazing.

After attaching handrails as carefully as I can, some cruel closeups are posted showing the damage!

1:64 & 1:76 Scale DBR

On request for the 1:76 scale market modelling NZR a DBR Shell has been made available for 3D Printing via Shapeways in 2 materials Frosted Detail @ $137.00 and Frosted Ultra Detail @ $191.00
The Model can be found here 1:76 KIWIRAIL DBR

This model has no bogie sideframes or fuel tanks, using the chassis fuel tank & bogies instead. I personally have a Frateschi NZR Dc class which is going to loose its body for a DBR Shell & end up with a more "correct" nzr loco.

1:76 KIWIRAIL DBR Class No Sideframes Or Fuel Tank

Also added is the DBR in 1:64 scale, except with the Fuel tanks & Bogie sideframes.
Available for 3D Printing via Shapeways in 2 materials Frosted Detail @ $$243.00 and Frosted Ultra Detail @ $343.00
The Model can be found here 1:64 DBR Class
